How do dental implants
The loss of even one tooth leads to atrophy of the jawbone at the place of its loss, and also causes a lot of trouble in connection with the displacement of adjacent teeth.
There is a violation of the functioning of not only the dentition, but also of the whole organism.
This problem requires timely restoration of the dentition.
A modern way to solve this problem is prosthetics on implants.
Such prosthetics allows to solve the problem even in the presence of complete adentia, by using fixed, removable, conditionally removable dental structures.
- Dentures based on implants are securely fixed in the oral cavity and fully fulfill their function.
- Patients easily get used to them, because they do not cause discomfort and do not give a sensation of the presence of a foreign body in the oral cavity.
- In the absence of only one tooth, there is no need to injure adjacent ones in order to install a bridge.
- Implantation allows patients, without attracting neighboring teeth with a missing one, to obtain a new artificial tooth, which will not differ from healthy real teeth.
- Implantation of the implant allows you to load the jawbone, and therefore contributes to its preservation.
What is an implant?
The implant is a titanium screw, which is installed in the jawbone in place of the lost tooth root.
Subsequently, an artificial crown is fixed on it, which fully restores the missing tooth.
Structure
A dental implant consists of two parts: an implant and an abutment.
Implant - This is part of the structure that is implanted in bone tissue.
Abutment - is a mediator between the implant and the future crown. It is also made of titanium.
Implantation Stages
Preparatory
Proper implementation of the preparatory phase determines the success of the entire implantation.
A complete examination of the patient is carried out:
- The general condition of the patient’s body is determined.
- The features of the dentofacial system are studied on the basis of an x-ray study.
- Computer simulation is being conducted.
- The method of implantation is determined.
- Implants are selected.
The oral cavity is prepared for implantation of titanium structures:
- Sanitation of the oral cavity is carried out.
- Professional toothbrushing is carried out.
- The presence of indications and contraindications for the operation is determined.
In the presence of chronic diseases, the patient is treated and the causes obstructing surgical intervention are eliminated (smoking, alcohol consumption, insufficient oral hygiene).
Surgical phase - implant placement
The operation is done in two stages.
- Before the operation, the patient puts on a sterile cap and shoe covers.
- After that, the patient is offered to rinse the oral cavity with an antiseptic solution and treat the area around the mouth with a disinfectant solution.
- Anesthesia is performed and a gum incision is made after two to three minutes.
At the first stage:
- Bone tissue is cleaned of gum tissue.
- A bone bed is prepared for implant placement.
- Unpack a sterile implant that is implanted in the jawbone.
- The implant is closed with gum tissue and sutured.
The duration of the operation is from 30 to 60 minutes.
Over the course of 3 to 6 months, a fusion of the titanium root (osseointegration) with bone tissue occurs.
- In the process of the second stage with the use of anesthesia, a small incision is made in the gum and a gum former is placed on the implant.
- Two weeks later, the abutment is fixed in place of the gingiva former, and the tooth crown is on top.
This procedure is not cheap.
The cost of installing one implant is from 20000 rubles.
The implant installation warranty is from 10 and more years.
The result is a new tooth that is no different from the present!
