One of the most popular types of prosthetics today is metal-ceramic crowns.

Metal ceramics gained its popularity for its excellent natural appearance, high strength and durability.

Cermets made of cermet do not change their color, they do not wear off, food residues do not stick to them, and they are not capricious in use.

The installation of a ceramic-metal prosthesis does not mean at all that it should not be carefully looked after as well as teeth. Nevertheless, ceramic-metal dental care differs from conventional dental care.

Maintenance of cermet structures is not complicated.

The main thing is the regularity and thoroughness of the procedures, as well as the observance of certain rules that extend the life of artificial teeth.

Care

Caring for metal ceramic prostheses means:

  • Hygienic oral care.
  • In addition to hygienic brushing of teeth in the morning and in the evening, the cleaning of artificial teeth should be done after each meal and should become a habit over time.
  • When using metal-ceramic constructions, it is not recommended to smoke and abuse coffee and tea, since as a result hard-to-remove deposits are deposited on the surface of the prosthesis.

  • Ceramic artificial teeth require periodic removal of plaque, which is formed on the surface of the cermet from frequent smoking or drinking tea, coffee.
  • Removable structures must be removed at night and after cleaning, store in dried form. Can be left in a specially designed denture storage fluid.
  • You should not eat both hot food and very cold, which can lead to the formation of cracks on the surface of cermets. Moreover, it is not recommended to eat foods that have a large temperature difference during meals. For example: you can’t eat ice cream and drink it with hot coffee.
  • Despite the high strength of cermets, one cannot crack nuts with such teeth, open bottles, etc., since such actions can damage the ceramic coating of the crown.
  • At least twice a year, you must undergo a professional examination in the dentist's office.

How to clean cermets

  • Ceramic-metal crowns should be cleaned with a toothbrush in vertical movements in the direction from the gums to the edge, with thorough cleansing of the interdental spaces. The choice of toothpaste and stiffness of the brush depends on the preference of the holder of artificial teeth. However, if there are a large number of metal-ceramic structures in your mouth, you should give preference to toothpaste containing propolis or herbs.
  • For better removal of food particles, dental floss (floss) is used. The chewing surface of artificial teeth is cleaned with sweeping movements in various directions.
  • After the cleansing procedure, it is necessary to rinse the oral cavity thoroughly, first with water, and then with a special rinse, recommended by the dentist.

  • If a bridge made of cermet is installed, thorough cleaning of the washing channel, which is located between the artificial tooth and the gum, is required.
  • If this procedure is neglected, then as a result of decay of food particles accumulated there, an unpleasant odor from the mouth is formed.
  • To clean the gap between the bridge and the gum, miniature brushes, flosses, brushes, and toothpicks are used.
  • If plaque forms on the surface of cermet, it is necessary to use special care products or consult a doctor who will carry out professional toothbrushing. In this case, whitening toothpastes will not give the desired effect.
